The beauty in the ordinary
As the sole creator behind FHAR Studio, my journey has been a deeply personal and artistic one. After graduating in fine art in Toulouse, France, I spent several years working as a sculptor and prop maker for the film industry until 2021. My exploration into the world of ceramics began in 2019, and in 2022, I decided to fully embrace this passion by establishing FHAR Studio.
The name F H A R holds special significance, drawing from my initials, Fleur Huguette Andrée Reboul, and incorporating the names of my grandmothers, Huguette and Andrée. Both were pioneering entrepreneurs in their own right, and FHAR Studio serves as an homage to their precious heritage, representing this one-woman business built on strong family values and a spirit of independence. As a French immigrant now living in the USA, bringing my roots and these cherished family values into my work is paramount.
Living in the vibrant and culturally rich city of Los Angeles has profoundly influenced my creative process. This melting pot of cultures and artistic expressions inspires me to constantly experiment with diverse styles, techniques, and forms. My work reflects this dynamic environment, embracing a wide range of influences while striving to maintain a distinct signature style that balances sophistication with a touch of whimsy.
The creation process at FHAR Studio is incredibly hands-on. It always begins with a simple ball of clay and my own two hands. Operating as a one-woman company, I personally imagine, design, and craft every single piece for FHAR in my small studio located here in Santa Monica. For me, creating functional dinnerware goes far beyond simply making utensils for everyday use. It's a meticulous and loving process of transforming raw clay into vessels that embody both practicality and inherent aesthetic beauty. Each piece is shaped, glazed, and fired with the utmost care. I firmly believe that our daily dining experiences are significantly enhanced when we use pieces that are not just utilitarian objects but also intricate works of art. My dinnerware sets are thoughtfully crafted to elevate the sensory pleasure of enjoying a meal and to add a touch of understated elegance to any table they grace.
Beyond functional pieces, I also delve into the playful realm of quirky porcelain sculpture, where my imagination can truly run free. These sculptures serve as my personal canvas for whimsy and storytelling, allowing me to craft narratives and evoke emotions through the delicate medium of porcelain. Each sculpture tells its own unique story, inviting viewers to engage with their often playful elements. My intention is to spark curiosity and wonder, encouraging people to look beyond the surface and discover the intricate details and hidden meanings within each piece
At the heart of FHAR Studio's values is a commitment to creating well-crafted and functional wares for the home and table. My sincere hope is that these pieces will become cherished heirloom items in your home and for your family for years to come. Functional design is my language, and it brings me immense joy to share these ideals of handcrafted home decor with others. Ultimately, my art is a celebration of the everyday moments, transforming what might be considered mundane objects into extraordinary creations that bring joy, beauty, and a sense of wonder into people's lives. Through both my functional dinnerware and my quirky porcelain sculptures, I aspire to create a tangible connection between the user and the object, inviting them to explore the beautiful intersection of art and utility in their daily lives. Each piece I create is an invitation to appreciate the beauty found in the ordinary, to cherish the simple rituals of daily life, and to find unexpected delight in the handmade.
