Sustainability

I believe in taking care of our planet, and it's something I try to do in all aspects of my business.

I use recycled materials in my daily business routine as much as possible. This means that the package you receive from FHAR may have old stamps and stickers on, because it's already been traveling. In the same way, I use recycled wrapping material and old discarded tape. These are all part of the small steps I take on the road of becoming a more sustainable small company.

In the studio. I do not have running water and each drop is conscientiously used multiple times throughout the making process from throwing, cleaning up, reclaiming clay, watering my potted plants. I recycle all clay and glaze leftovers, making sure that all waste is minimized.

Material and appliances are mostly second hand. I design and make the majority of my tools from things that I already have. Most of the raw material that I use to formulate glazes comes from an old stock of ceramic material donated by Bob Travers, the potter who sold me my very first throwing wheel and kiln.
